WARNING SIGNS OF SUICIDE








Risk factors 


Risk factors increase the likelihood that someone may think about, attempt, or die by suicide, but they do not cause or predict suicide. 


1) Mental lillness such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and several personality disorders, in particular 

2) Diseases caused by alcohol and other substances 

3) Hopelessness 

4) Aggressive or impulsive traits

5) Abusive or trauma history 

6) Significant physical or ongoing conditions 

7) Previous suicide attempt Suicide in the family 

8) Recently lost a job or money

9) Recent breakup with a partner

10) Simple access to deadly weapons 

 11) Social isolation and a lack of social support 

12) Asking for assistance is stigmatised 

13)there is a lack of treatment for substance miss use and mental health issues

Cultural and religious ideals, such as the notion that committing suicide is a noble


Immediate Risk

A person may exhibit certain behaviours if they are now in immediate danger of suicide. 

The next three should make you want to contact a mental health professional or dial 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) right now. 

* Expressing a desire to die or to commit suicide; 

* attempting to find a way to commit suicide, such as by looking online or getting a gun 

* Expressing feelings of hopelessness or a lack of motivation to live



Major Risk 

Other behaviours may also be a sign of a major risk, particularly if they are new, have become more frequent, and/or appear to be connected to an upsetting event, a loss, or a shift. 


1) Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs, 

2) talking about being trapped or in excruciating agony, 

3)talking about burdening people, 

4)acting anxious or agitated, 

5) acting otherwise out of character.
